Around twenty members gathered again at the Blackfriar’s Tavern in Great Yarmouth for our rigging supper and the first chance to catch up as a group since the annual dinner in early February. As one might expect, the excellent real ales were widely sampled, although some disappointment was expressed by one member regarding the lack of a “homebrew” bitter. A pie based meal with tasty vegetables was dished up mid-way through the evening, with desserts available for those who had room.

Julia then handed out a paper-based quiz with a childhood sweets theme: she supplied the cryptic clues, the members had to wrack their brains trying to remember what they used to get their sugar fix from. Somewhat unfairly, there were three teams of three or four and one huge team of six: with that advantage, it was unsurprising that they won; the prize being sweets, of course!
